Description
The cathedral of San Pietro Apostolo, better known as "Il Duomo", is the main place of worship in the city of Treviso.
Its origins date back to the early Christian age (6th century) and it was built in a very central area of the city where, as evidenced by the finds, there was a temple, a theater and, perhaps, some thermal baths.
Between the 11th and 12th centuries, the area took on its current layout and the cathedral itself was modified according to the Romanesque style.
Technically the photo is a long exposure (taken with Sony a7RIII and the extraordinary Sigma 14-24mm F2.8 DG DN Art; 280s, f11, ISO 100). The long exposure aims to accentuate the power of the structure and its history in contrast with the fleetingness of the passing clouds.
The fascinating beauty of this type of structure (in the Pantheon style) is unaltered. The artistic interpretation of the image is aimed at accentuating the facade and the imposing six-column pronaos.
